Bread Pudding

An all time favorite that can be served either warm out of the oven or let it chill and bring or hidden flavors.

Ingredients:
1    10 oz loaf stale French bread, crumbled (or 6-8 Cups any type bread)
4 Cups milk
2 Cups sugar
8 Tsp butter, melted or more to taste
3 eggs
2-3 Tsp pure vanilla extract (not artificial)
I Tbs of Caramel topping (optional)
1 Tsp cinnamon
1 Tsp nutmeg
2 Tbs corn starch
Combine bread, sugar, eggs, the melted butter, cinnamon and the nutmeg together. Mix the starch in 1 ounce of milk until smooth then add the balance of the milk, then the vanilla. Add the starch and milk mixture to the bread mixture together. Mixture should be very moist (like oatmeal) but not soupy. If it has become too wet, add some more bread. Place it into a deep buttered 9 x 12" or larger baking dish. Spread the Caramel topping over the top either now of after the baking
Place into non-preheated oven. Bake at 350 degrees F. for approx. 1 hour and 15 minutes, until top is golden brown. Serve warm with sauce. See the Caramel Rum  Sauce.
